Dorothy was born on May 14, 1919 in Floyd County, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Anna Marie (Litterer) Vetter. She was the first child of seven children. She grew very close to all her brothers, Gerry and Donald Vetter, and her sisters, Elsie Heitz, Edna Speicher, Louise Gersema and Laura Koeff. For many years they pleasured each other's company by fishing, going to breakfast once a month and playing cards. Everything she touched, she handled with great care, which included gardening, sewing, baking, quilting and crocheting. She was united in marriage to Leon Charles Scott on September 25, 1948. They celebrated their lives together for 43 years, until his passing in 1991. She has now joined with the love of her life once again on this Valentine's Day.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Chester (Becky) Scott of Lemoore, CA and Thomas Scott of Waverly. Dorothy put her heart into her family, which brought forth generations of four grandchildren, Jamie, Jodi, Jeremy and Jennalee; and eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Donald (Shari) Vetter of Greene and Gerald (Beulah) Vetter of Nashua; and sisters, Edna (Donald) Splicker of Fredricksburg, Louise (Clarence) Gersema of Nashua and Laura Koeff of Nashua.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leon; and sisters, Elsie Heitz and Edna Speicher.
