He was the former Husband to Doris (Stinnett); loving father of Jerry (Janet), Robert (Denise), Sheri Dean (Brady), Mark (Patricia) Alana Clampitt; and grandfather of ten all survive. Also surviving are two brothers Charles Junior (Barbara deceased), Jim (Olive) three sisters Alice Vernon (Dale), Ellen Gilogly (Francis), Evelyn Brown (Claud deceased)and sister in-law Crystal Clampitt (Herbert Clinton).
Prior to WWII Don worked as a Rodeo Clown along with his father and older brother. Upon the outbreak of WWII he joined the U.S. Army Air Forces attaining the rank of Private. After an honorable discharge he worked as a clothing salesman for many years upon retirement he worked as a volunteer at various state parks in and around Scott County Indiana. He loved Golf & fishing.
Don donated his body to Case Western Reserve Medical School in Cleveland , Ohio. His final resting place is next to his beloved parents and brothers in Scottsburg, Cemetery. A celebration and remembrance of his life was held June, 2007 graveside by his family and friends.
