In 1870, Temescal was in San Bernardino County.

At the age of 1, Agnes' mother died in an accident and her father sent her (and siblings) to live in various orphanages. It is known that Agnes did reside at the Los Angeles Orphan Asylum, at least through 1880. It was most likely that in the orphanage that she became exposed to the Catholic faith, converted, and then became a nun, choosing the name Sister M. Alcantara. On legal documents, she can be found as Agnes Bedford. By 1910, Agnes, or Sr. M. Alcantara, was in San Antonio, Texas, working as a treasurer or bookkeeper for the Santa Rosa Infirmary. She remained there until 1930. By 1935, she continues her work in St. Louis, MO. About 1936, Sr. M. Alcantara, or Agnes, is assigned to St. Joseph's Infirmary in Paris, Texas, where she is listed as a nun and a nurse. It is in the same hospital that she passes away of heart and kidney problems. Her death certificate is filed under the name of Sister M. Alcantara. She was survived by one sister and one brother.
