Harter: Frederick A., was born on December 24, 1870 at Owosso, Michigan, and died Sabbath, December 30, 1944 in the Washington Sanitarium, Takoma Park, Maryland. In 1887 he was married to Katherine Houston, now deceased. He attended Hamline College at St. Paul, Minnesota and was later ordained as a minister in the Baptist Church. Through the efforts of his brother, Robert Harter, he united with the Seventh-day Adventist church and was later ordained to the ministry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He labored in the East Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Florida, and Potomac Conferences a total of 22 years, after which he retired from the ministry. Returning to Virginia, he married Miss Esther L. Boone on November 17, 1931, to which union were born three sons. He leaves to mourn their loss four children from his first marriage, Roscoe Harter, Mrs. Carolyne E. Protzman, Mrs. Dorothy Smith. and Mrs. Marguerite MacEachern; six grandchildren; his widow, Mrs. Esther L. Harter, and her three-sons, Robert Lyman Harter, Frederick A. Harter, Jr., and Norman Bryce Harter; and a large number of friends. Brother Harter was fully reconciled to lay down this life's work and sleep with God's people until the Life-giver calls him on the morning of the resurrection. Services were conducted in the Walters Funeral Parlors, Takoma Park, D. C. by Elder H. J. Detwiler, assisted by Elders George S. Rapp and C. J. Coon. Interment was in Washington Memorial Cemetery. - J. Lee Price

Frederick A. Harter was born Dec. 24, 1870 at Owosso, Mich. and died Sabbath, Dec. 30, 1944, in Takoma Park, Md. In 1887 he married Katherine Houston, now deceased. For a number of years he served as a minister in the Baptist Church; but through the efforts of his brother, Robert Harter, he accepted present truth and was later ordained to the gospel ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. After twenty-two years of continuous labor in the cause he retired from the ministry and moved to Virginia. He was married to Miss Esther L. Boone in 1931. He leaves four children from his first marriage, his widow and three sons from his second marriage, and a large number of friends. Interment was in Washington Memorial Cemetery.
