James Frederick Pudleiner, 83, of Kunkletown, died Monday afternoon, Feb. 28, at his residence.

He was the husband of Norma Fay (Kreger) Pudleiner. They had observed their 61st wedding anniversary on March 20, 2010.

Born in Kearny, N.J. on Jan. 23, 1928, he was a son of the late David and Mary (Lucas) Pudleiner.

He moved to Dotters Corner in 1938, and during World War II he first served in the Merchant Marines and later as a technical sergeant in the U.S. Army.

After the war, he worked with his brother, David, as an auto mechanic and later established a building construction business when he moved to Kunkletown in 1950. He continued to work as a building contractor until retiring in 1985.

Jim had been a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 99 for 10 years, and he was a former member of the Eldred Township Zoning Board. He was a member of the West End Wings, the Elks Club in Lehighton and the Farm Bureau Association. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and wood carver and he also loved boating.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, James Pudleiner and his wife, Judy, of Orefield, Burl Pudleiner and his wife, Karla, of Springfield, Va., and Robert Pudleiner and his wife, Eileen, of Bethlehem; nine grandchildren, Melissa, James, Jennifer, Joshua, Ryan, David,Douglas, Korryn and Kailyn; and seven great-grandchildren, Skylar, Grace, Gabrielle, Ava, James, Meredith and Jackson.
