FAYETTEVILLE - Gary L. Bryant, 58, of Fayetteville died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at his home.

He was born July 2, 1952, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Leon and Laveda Marrs Bryant. He was preceded in death by his father; granddaughter, Haylee Gillooley; and his mother-in-law, Theresa Erwin.

Gary was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He was an avid sailor, fisherman and hunter. He served his country as a Navy Seaman during the Vietnam era.

Gary was the director of human resources and benefits at Simmons Foods, Inc. for 16 years. He was instrumental in developing and establishing in company health clinics at numerous Simmons locations.

All in all, he loved interacting with people, being the jokester and prankster, anything to bring a smile to someone's face.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Bryant; a daughter, Carisa Held and her husband, Steven, of Barling, Ark.; a brother, Wayne Bryant and his wife, Judy, of Springdale; two sisters, Carolyn Moses and her husband, Junior, of Pettigrew and Michelle Sasnett and her husband, Joe, of Prairie Grove; his mother, Laveda Bolick of Springdale; his father-in-law, Bill Erwin of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Whitney, Sklar and Larrah Gillooley; two brothers-in-law, James F. Erwin Sr. and his wife, Pamela, and Mike Erwin and Coleman Ross; one uncle; two aunts; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, at Farmington Baptist Church, under the direction of Moore's Chapel.

Officiating will be the Rev. Preston Beeks.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to service time Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Farmington Baptist Church, P.O. Box 847, Farmington, AR 72730.
