Betsy, as she was known to her family and friends, made a profession of faith as a young girl and became a member of the First Baptist Church, where she attended as long as her health allowed.
She attended and graduated from Lebanon High School, in the class of 1962. After graduation she attended Stephens College and graduated with an Associates Degree, after college she began working for Royal McBee in Springfield, Missouri.
In July of 1965, Betsy was united in marriage with Charley Luthy and to this union was born three children.
Betsy was a hard worker and dedicated to the success of the business ventures, in which she was involved. She spent many years involved with the family business, Detroit Tool and Detroit Tool and Metal Products; Betsy was also the owner of Kids Boutique children's clothing store.
Betsy was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1996. She bravely faced every day with dignity and grace.
She is survived by her two sons, Scott Luthy and his wife Keshian and Chad Luthy, all of Lebanon, Missouri; her daughter Angie Heard and her husband Dr. Jeff Heard of Springfield, Missouri; three brothers, George E. Carr and his wife Ann of Lebanon, Richard and his wife Karen of Destin, Florida, and Mike Carr and his partner Robert Fallon of Mesa, Arizona; one sister Margaret Russell and her husband John T. of Lebanon, Missouri; grandchildren, Alexander, Karis, and Spencer Hefton, Nashe, Haddi, and Kaigon Luthy, Chase Heard and wife Michelle and their children, Jada, Idra,and Lakin Croteau and her husband Ben and their children, Yuma and Zion; other relatives and many dear friends.
Betsy, was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother John Carr.
Betsy was a beautiful person inside and out she left a smile with everyone she met. Her kind spirit and giving nature will be forever remembered.
