JOHN DOLSON, Rev War Pension Claim, S12788:
John Dolson was born 16 Jun 1754 in Newburg, Orange Co, New York. The names of his parents are not stated.

While a resident of lower Smithfield, Northampton County, PA, in 1776, John Dolson belonged to Capt. Timothy Jaynes' Company of Northampton County, PA Militia, and on 1 Jul of that year, volunteered and served three months as orderly sergeant in Capt. Abraham Miller's Company, Col Kecklein's PA Regiment, immediately after which he enlisted and served three months in Capt. Samuel Drake's Company under Major Benjamin Van Campen? in the Pennsylvania troops and was at the Battle of Trenton. He then enlisted and served three months in Capt. Campbell's Company, Col Seigfried's PA Regiment, and in the spring of 1777, he volunteered and served a little over three months in Capt. Jaynes' Company, and Col Jacob Stroud's PA Regiment against the Indians. Afterwards and until the spring of 1778, he served in the frontiers along the Delaware River under Col Stroud and was on an expedition for one month against the Tories in New Jersey, after which, until the close of the war, he was engaged one-third of his time in defense of the country along the Delaware River under Col's Stroud and John Combers?, Pennsylvania troops.

John Dolson was allowed pension on his application executed 4 Sep 1833, while a resident of Elmira, Tioga Co, New York. He died 6 May 1838, leaving a widow, her name not shown and there are no data as to children.
