My dear nephew.

A life-long resident of Tucson, where he was born on March 4, 1967, Andrew died peacefully here at age 38 on June 4, 2005.

Taught the skills of camping and an appreciation for the beauty in nature by his late father, Carl Allen Smith, Andrew brought that love of nature into his adult life. In his time away from the kitchens where he worked as a chef, he loved to go with family and friends to relax in the quiet beauty of Mt. Lemmon.

Those who knew him will remember him for his gentle kindness and willingness to be of help- whether it meant pushing a truck out of a snow bank, or helping prepare a holiday meal. The task was done with a broad smile and a sense of privilege in being able to help. His love of animals and respect for all beings showed in the care and support he gave to his pets as well as his human family and friends.

Andrew was predeceased by his father, Carl Allen Smith and his step-father, Albert Hultquist. He is survived by his mother, Diane Hultquist; stepmother, Diane Nicholson; sisters, Sandra McClelland, Doris Graves, Janice Carpenter, Linda Hultquist, Kara Smith-Scott, Kim Moreno, Michelle Johnson; brother-in-law, Randy Carpenter; sweetheart Janet Bauer; grandparents, Jean and Art Wildern; aunt, Jean Davis; uncles, Charles Davis and Richard Davis; numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
