Major (Retired) Billy M. Hodges of Columbus passed away on Thursday at the Columbus Regional Medical Center. He was 80 years of age and resided at 1416 Chalbena Avenue.
Born in Martinsville, VA on April 1, 1933, Mr. Hodges was the son of the late Benjamin and Elsie Young Hodges. He was a Korean War Veteran of the U. S. Army, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service to his country. He was a retired real estate broker with Remax and Century 21. He was a member of Faith Tabernacle Community Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving his departure with cherished memories, include: a devoted daughter, Vicky L. Hill (Darryl Huff) of Columbus; five grandchildren, Brandon E. Shiver (Kathy), Brandy L. Rivera (Stephen), Braelen J. Hill (Michelle), Brenton J . Hill (Sarah) and Jonathan Allen; eight great grandchildren, Tyler L. Hill, Kai'Liah Hill, Thomas Rivera, Daniel Rivera, Khristian Hill, Jaydenn Hill, Annabelle Hill and Jaden Allen. Other survivors include: Terri Avery, Billy M. Hodges (Tammy), Steven G. Hodges (Cathy) and Richard D. Hodges (Dawn).
The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Hodges will be at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Faith Tabernacle Community Church with Pastor R. George Plummer officiating. He will be entombed in columbarium at Main Post Cemetery. The cortege will depart from the residence at 12:45 the day of the service.
