Kathleen A. (nee Purcell) DeNoble, 65, of Jersey City and Ocean, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2013.

Kathleen was a devoted teacher and administrator with Hudson County Schools of Technology in Jersey City and North Bergen retiring in 2004. Prior, she was a special education teacher for 9 years for East Newark Public Schools.

Dr. DeNoble was also a professor of special education and educational leadership for New Jersey City University, Felician College and Montclair State University. Most recently she was a curriculum consultant for the Harrison Board of Education.

Kathleen was a graduate of St. Joseph Grammar School and Dickinson High School, Jersey City. She received her BA in special education and general elementary and her MA's in urban education and counseling at Jersey City State College. She earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from NOVA Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Kathleen published a number of articles and presented workshops in special education, vocational education and educational leadership throughout the U.S. and Europe. She was honored by the Scared Straight Program at Rahway Prison and received the Christopher Columbus Award for Outstanding Community Service.

Kathleen was very giving of her time and resources to numerous charitable organizations. She was an avid skier and enjoyed cooking, traveling, playing golf, hiking, biking and the arts. Everyone has known Kate to have a gentle loving soul whose life devotion to helping others had no bounds and she will be forever in our hearts.

Kathleen was the beloved wife of 31 years to Alexander "Sandy" DeNoble; Devoted mother of Jennifer (Wallace) Mineo and husband Sal; Loving sister of Mary LeMore and husband Jerry, Loretta Fulton and husband Tom, Thomas Purcell and wife Adriana, and the late Edward Purcell and his surviving wife Pam. Cherished aunt of Christopher LeMore, Toni Ann DeNoble, Martin Salazar, Sean and Veronica Purcell.
