Leonard C. Shippee 85, Planters Point Florida, formerly of Fowler, NY., passed away May 24th, 2013. Born February 16th, 1928 in Gouverneur, NY and the son of Charles and Marion Fleming Shippee. He is survived by his companion Juanita Pascarella; a son Richard and his wife Regina of Fowler; Two grandsons, Bryan and his companion Tracey Doxtater, Antwerp, NY and Kevin and his companion Kim Endress of Watertown, NY; Five great grandchildren; Also surviving a sister, Helen Blance, Macomb, NY; a brother Howard and his wife Marie, Fowler, NY; as well as several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie; a brother Ivan; brother-in-law James Blance; a niece Lorraine Tanner; and a step-father Claude Powers.

After schooling in Macomb, he joined the Army in 1945 and served in the Philippines and was discharged in 1947. He married Marjorie Love on September 28, 1947. They owned and operated a farm in Macomb. After selling the farm they moved to Gouverneur. He worked for the Gouverneur Coop for several years. He worked construction and for Spliman's Garage as a car salesman until Marjorie and Leonard moved to Florida in 1988 for the winter months and worked for Spliman's in the summer months. While in Florida, he had a moving business in New Syrma Beach before moving to Deland about two years ago. He was a life member of the V.F.W. in Gouverneur and a member of the Elks in Florida. He enjoyed dancing, golfing, and playing cards but mostly his family and friends. Burial will be in the Pleasant Lake Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
