Tilford M. Hogan was Marilyn Monroe's great-grandfather. He was a farmer by trade. Cause of death: Suicide by hanging himself. Mr. Hogan had one child, Della Mae with first wife, C.V. "Jennie" Nance.
----------
Great Grandfather of Norma Jeane Mortenson (aka MARILYN MONROE)

Tilford Marion Hogan was born in Adams County Illinois on February 24, 1851 to George W. Hogan and Sarah Anne Owen. In 1860 Tilford was eight years old and living in Greensburgs, Knotts, Missouri with his parents/brothers/sisters and his mother's father, Edward Owen.

By 1880, Tilford had already married Charlotty (Jennie) Virginia Nance and had three living children: Dora Hogan, Della Mae Hogan, and William Marion Hogan.

In 1900 Tilford Marion Hogan's marriage status was listed as DIVORCED. Sometime between 1900 and 1920 it is believed that Tilford Marion Hogan remarried Spouse Unknown. This hypothesis is supported by a 1920 United States federal Census document which list Tilford Marion Hogan's marriage status as WIDOWED. Furthermore, Tilford's newspaper death notice, while married to Emma D. Wyett, documents two daughters; a Mrs. Myers of Kansas City Missouri and a Mrs. Andros from California (described as a daughter from a previous (undocumented?) Marriage. Both Dora Hogan and Della Mae Hogan have never been documented using the surnames of Myers and/or Andros. These two daughters (Myers/Andros) could either be offspring and/or stepdaughters of Tilford. However, no evidence exists as of this writing.

On September 17, 1928 Tilford Marion Hogan married Emma D. Wyett. By 1930 Tilford Marion Hogan was living in Linn County Missouri with his spouse Emma Hogan and his sister Mary Mahurin (Mary Ann Hogan).

In May 29, 1933 Tilford Marion Hogan died by self-inflicted hanging (May God Rest His Soul).
