OBITUARY
James M. Courneya of Auburn died Aug., 7, 2004, at his home. He was 76.
Born April 14, 1928, in Shell Lake, Minn., he served in the Army from 1950 to 1952 in Korea, and married Anna Meduri on Jan., 14, 1956, in Ravena, Ohio. He lived in Auburn for 46 years.
Mr. Courneya worked as a lineman at Northern Pacific/Burlington Northern Railroad for 44 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Family Catholic Church in Auburn, and the Legion of Mary. He enjoyed collecting trains and storytelling.
He was proceded in death by his parents; daughter Louise and brothers Joseph Courneya and Michael Courneya. He is survived by his wife, Anna Courneya of Auburn; sons Paul Courneya of Reno, Nev., James Courneya of Orting and Dana Courneya of Spokane; daughter Mary Beth Mamaril of Sumner; brothers John Courneya of Willoughby, Ohio, Charles Courneya of Yelm and Daniel Courneya of Conconully; sisters Charlotte Courneya of Centralia, Clarice Courneya of Hayward, Calif., Areilia Courneya of Kent and Frances Breen of Moses Lake; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Price-Helton Funeral Home in Auburn. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Auburn followed by entombment at Gethsamane Catholic Cemetery in Federal Way.
