He was born August 29, 1914, son of James Arthur and Dora May Rawson Ball in Ammon, ID. He graduated from BYU and received his MBA from Harvard. He married Vivian Guest on April 2, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were truly sweethearts. His church and family were the very center of his life. His children dearly loved and respected him. A lifelong missionary, Elden fulfilled four full-time missions for the church; two to the Southern States in his youth and two more with his sweetheart to England and Australia. He was gospel doctrine teacher for thirty years and teacher in the High Priest Group for ten years. His most recent calling was Ward Family History Specialist. He encouraged scores to do their genealogy. 55 years ago he and Vivian built their cabin "Back of the Moon" in Big Cottonwood Canyon. This has been shared by thousands of friends. Life was very good to them. They enjoyed good health and enjoyed traveling together. They raised a faithful hardworking family.
He is survived by his wife Vivian; sons: Arthur (Linda), Talmage (Laura), David (LaVaun), Spencer; daughters: Nancy Lynn (Talmage) Shill and
Carolina (Richard) Pope; and his sister, Uarda Whiting. Paul (Karen) preceded him in death. His posterity includes 32 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 21st, 12 noon, at the Olympus Stake Center, 2700 E. 4500 So. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 So., and Monday at the ward from 10:45-11:45 am prior to services. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates.
