Death of Judge Hosmer
Hezekiah L. Hosmer, ex-chief justice of Montana, died in San Francisco on the 31st ult., at the age 78 years and 11 months. He was born in Henderson, N. Y. After being admitted to the bar he went to Ohio, editing the Toledo Blade, of which he became one of the proprietors, and started a daily paper of that name. In 1864 he was appointed by President Lincoln chief justice of Montana, and occupied that high position for eight years. In 1873 he came to San Francisco, where he devoted himself principally to literary work.
