GARRISON, PHYLLIS - age 76, of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013. Phyllis was a longtime member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and had retired as a Elementary Educator having taught at both Karns Elementary and Hardin Valley Elementary. She was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan and enjoyed reading and traveling. Some of her favorite trips were to Italy. Phyllis loved spending time at the beach with her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, magnificent mother, and an amazing grandmother. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Garrison. She is survived by her sons, Joseph B. Garrison and wife Stacy, and David L. Garrison and wife Annette; grandchildren, Kathleen, Alexandra, and Jacob; brother, Walter Nicholson and wife Wanda; and her beloved Shetland Sheepdog Lexy. Funeral Mass Friday at 10:00 am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Following the Mass family and friends will process to Highland Memorial Cemetery for the interment. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to either the American Cancer Society , 871 N Weisgarber Rd., Knoxville, TN 37909, or the American Heart Association , 4708 Papermill Dr., Knoxville, TN 37909.
