Pueblo Bank Chairman Alva B. Adams Dies. Alva B. Adams, chairman of the board for the Pueblo Bank & Trust Co., died Thursday morning at a Denver hospital where he was undergoing treatment for a heart condition.

Long active in area business, political and community activities, Adams was the son of the late U.S. Sen. Alva B. Adams of Pueblo, who died in 1941. His grandfather, Alva Adams, served as Colorado governor for two terms.

The younger Adams was born Oct. 21, 1915 in Pueblo. He attended Williams College in Massachusetts and the University of Virginia, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1939. During World War II, he served as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard. A Democratic Party leader, he twice was a candidate for 3rd Congressional District congressman. He is past chairman of the Colorado Board of Education.

He received an honorary doctorate degree from Adams State College in 1964 for service to the public. His survivors include his widow, Mrs. Martha B. Adams; a son, Alva B. Adams Jr.; his mother, Mrs. Alva B. Adams Sr., and a brother, William H. Adams, all of Pueblo, and a daughter, Loretta, of the Denver area.

Adrian Comer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Private services at graveside will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
