1850 U.S. Census, Maine, Somerset county, Mercer, dwelling 248; all household members born Maine except Lydia born New Hampshire; Jason Chandler, 71, farmer; Lydia, 66; Hiram, 26, farmer; George, 30, carriage maker. Included in the household is twenty-three year old Lydia Chandler, possibly wife of Hiram. Also included is an eight year old female named Lucinda Hallet, perhaps daughter of Hanna (Chandler) Hallett and grand-daughter of Moses. Compiler's note: The census enumerator names the head of house Jason; but, this is surely Moses as substantiated by age 71 and names of the others living in the household.

1860 U.S. Census, same location, dwelling 292; Lydia Chandler, 77, born New Hampshire, tailoress. Next door in dwelling 291 is Lydia's step daughter Rebecca with husband Waterman Kimball.
