DALLAS Graveside services for Flora Lee Banks, 97, of Dallas, Texas, will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas, with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Flora died May 28, 2013. The family will be receiving visitors on Friday, May 31, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Hubbard Kelley Funeral Home.

Flora was born on October 21, 1915, in Mesquite, Texas, to Clarence and Hattie Bennett. She worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Dallas during the war. She married Ernest L. Banks on November 8, 1945. In 1952, they moved from El Paso to Odessa. She very much loved raising her two sons, Barty and Benny, often affording them opportunities that she had been denied while living on the farm during the Depression. Her life was characterized by such selfless giving not only to her family but also to her many friends and acquaintances. She was a wonderful cook, especially known for her fried chicken and pot roast. She retired from the Ector County Tax Assessor-Collectors office in 1982. She read the entire Bible through each year for many years. She would rather watch a football or baseball game than watch a movie. She was a faithful and much-loved member of Highland United Methodist Church for many years.
