LIVERMORE - Joyce L. Blanchard, 64, of Pittston, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Walter Jones, in Livermore, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Gardiner, Feb. 28, 1937, the daughter of Walter Sr. and Bernadine Elnora Brayley Rines, Joyce attended Gardiner schools. She enjoyed gardening, her grandchildren, spending time with her husband, quilting and playing beano. She loved life. she was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt above and beyond. she was a very knowledgeable woman. She was predeceased by her father; a daughter, Jamie L. Whitmore, in 1992; and her brother, Walter M. Rines Jr., in 1987. She is survived by her mother, of Greene; her husband of 22 years, James Blanchard, of Pittston; her son, Willard Whitmore, of Machiasport; her four daughters, Anna M. Jones, and her husband, Walter, of Livermore, Betty Whitmore, of Augusta, Susan Pottle, of Gardiner, Rachel G. McGuiggan, and her husband, James, of Plymouth, Ind.; two brothers, Timothy S. Rines, and his wife, Cindy, of South Paris, William J. Rines, and his wife, Cathy, of Monmouth; four sisters, Priscilla G. Maxim, and husband, Ronald, of Greene, Roberta J. Peters, and husband, Paul, of Mount Vernon, June Bubier, of Greene, Fern E. Davis, and her husband James, of Sabattus; and 13 grandchidlren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. THursday, Oct. 11, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. A graveside committal will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Pittston.
