He was the first player to score a touchdown in 49ers history. He was drafted into the NFL in 1941 from Fordham University. The 49ers created in honor of Len's contributions to the game, the prestigious Len Eshmont Award. It is given annually to the Niner who exemplifies "the inspirational and courageous play" of Len Eshmont, a player from the original 1946 Forty Niners team.
