Residence Fire Fatal To Child

Mother, Knightstown Native, Badly Burned

Mrs. Donald Dority, burned yesterday while rescuing two children from their burning home in Ogdensburg, NY, died at 11 o'clock this morning, according to word received in Knightstown.
The bodies of Mrs. Dority and daughter, Louise, are being directed to the Moffitt-Schweizer Funeral Home in Knightstown.
Louise Dority, 4 year old daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dority died early this morning from injuries received when their home in Ogdensburg, NY, was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning. (Her birth year was approximated.)
The girl's mother, Mrs. Donald Dority, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Leakey of Knightstown, is reported to be in critical condition.
According to the word received, Mrs. Dority had carried her young son to safety then returned to get her daughter out of the burning structure.
Mr. and Mrs. Leakey and son, Dick, left at once to Ogdensburg.
It is thought that Mr. Dority was working at the time of the fire. He formerly worked at the Chrysler plant.

Rites Are Planned For Mother, Child Who Died In Home Fire

Dority Services Set For Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Dority, 27, wife of Donald Dority, and her 3 year old daughter, Alice Louise Dority, who were fatally burned Wednesday in a house fire which destroyed their home in Ogdensburg, NY, will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Knightstown Friends Church with Rev. Byron Leaser officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Moffitt-Schweizer Funeral Home up to an hour before the service.
Mrs. Dority was a graduate of Knightstown High School, a member of the Friends Church and Gamma Eta Chapter of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority. The Dority family formerly resided in Knightstown and New Castle and had lived in New York state for the past 11 months.
Mrs. Dority is survived by the husband; a son, Robert; a brother, Richard Leakey of Knightstown; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Leakey of Knightstown; and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Garriott of Kennard.
