Funeral Services For Bobby Joe Hicks Wed.
Funeral services for Bobby Joe Hicks, 34, a former Clarendon resident were held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 1974, at graveside in Citizens Cemetery with Rev. Albert Yarbrough, pastor of the St. Mark Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in Citizens Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Schooler-Gordon-Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mr. Hicks was found dead at his room in a Hotel in Colorado City, Texas Monday, July 22, 1974. He had apparently been dead for several days and results of an autopsy showed he had died from a bleeding ulcer. He was born August 13, 1939 in Ralls, Texas and worked s a general laborer. He was a veteran and a member of the Baptitst [sic] Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hicks of Clarendon; three sons, Bobby Joe, Tommy Leroy, and Steven Hicks all of Clarendon; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hicks of Clarendon; four sisters, Mrs. Bernice Montgomery of San Bernardino, California, Mrs. Juanita Ashley, and Mrs. Dorothy Jean Gaines, both of Amarillo, Mrs. Brenette Ballard of Richmond, Calif.; three brothers, Arthur and Raymond, both of Amarillo, and Oscar Hicks Jr. of Colorado City, Texas.
Howard Weatherton, Willie Weatherton, Odell Louis, Mearl Louis, David Jones, and Collier Gilmore served as bearers.
