Eugene "Doc" Blackburn, 88, died Monday, June 3, 2013 in Shelbyville. He was a native of Bagdad, KY and was a retired dairy farmer in Shelby County. He was preceded in death by his son, James Blackburn and his daughter, Esther Blackburn. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Willie Mae Blackburn, of Shelbyville; his sons, Eugene Wesley Blackburn of Simpsonville, Norman William Blackburn of Shelbyville, LeRoy Blackburn of Shelbyville, Thomas Blackburn of Shelbyville, Larry Blackburn of Simpsonville, and Ronnie Blackburn of Shelbyville; his brothers, Kenneth Blackburn of Memphis, TN and John Blackburn of Indianapolis, IN; and 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral: 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Shannon Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Marshall officiating. Visitation: 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Grove Hill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy: American Cancer Society.
