"Obituary of Charlotte Rebecca (Chestnut) Ranck was born in Fulton County, PA, October 21, 1851, and was married to James McNeil Ranck at Paw Paw, West Virginia, January 17, 1877. They moved to Mahaska County, Iowa, near Oskaloosa, where they lived on a farm until 1879, then they moved to Jasper County, near Lynnville, on a farm, and in 1881 moved to Poweshiek County in the vicinity of Grinnell. They lived in this vicinity for 25 years. To them were born eight children; six sons and two daughters, of whom all are living. In 1906, they left Grinnell, Mrs. Ranck visiting her daughters in Albia, IA and Pawnee Rock, Kansas for several months while Mr. Ranck was in Canada, Looking up some land. She then joined him in Carnduff, Canada, where they lived on their own farm until 1913, when they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where they have resided since. Death came April 24, 1915, at 2:45 a.m. Mrs. Ranck is survived by her husband and eight children. The children are Mrs. Eva Rigg, Great Bend, KS; John W. Ranck, Minneapolis, MN; Charles C. Ranck, Viceroy, Canada; Mrs. Lillian Brock, Des Moines, IA; LeRoy M. Ranck, Minneapolis, MN. Those present at the time of death were the husband and two sons. The family were all present for the funeral except the daughter, Eva, of Great Bend, Kansas and a son, Charles C. Ranck, of Viceroy, Canada. Funeral services were held from Lakewood Chapel, Monday, April 26 at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Mrs. Emma Cranner, of the Third Christian Science Church, Minneapolis, MN. Interment was in Lakewood Cemetery. Mrs. Ranck was a woman who was loved by all who knew her and had hosts of friends for she always had a kind word for everyone. She was 63 years, 6 months, and 2 days old when death came. Four of the sons acted as pall bearers, as it was the mother's wish.
