Old Settler Of
Rutledge Twp. Dies

Lemuel W. Roy, born March 25, 1862, a prominent settler of Rutledge township died at his home at 12;30 o'clock Wednesday at the age of 73 years. Death was caused by cancer of the stomach.
He was the son of Jesse L. and Mary (Vance) Roy and one of twelve children, all preceding him in death. December 15, 1892 he married Bertha Britton and to this union two children, both surviving. Hallie Vance of LeRoy and Roy of Burlington, Iowa were born. Three grandchildren also survive. He was a member of the M. E. Church in the Rucker Chapel neighborhood.
The funeral services will be held at the M. E. church at Leroy on Friday at 1 P.M. with the Rev. Percy Honn of Saybrook in charge assisted by Rev. McKee of DeWitt. The Odd Fellow lodge of LeRoy of which the deceased was a member will have charge of the funeral.
