Kenneth Shatto
Services were held Monday afternoon at the Cobb-Warner Funeral chapel for Kenneth Shatto who was killed January 8 while engaged in defense work at Treasure Island, San Francisco Bay. Word here announced he had been struck by a crane.
The Rev. G.D. Serrill was the officiating minister. A quartet composed of Mrs. Roy Nell Mes, Gail Piper and the Messrs. L.H. Knight and C.G. Rankin sang two numbers. Burial was in North Lawn Memorial cemetery.
Casket bearers were the Messrs. Adrian Coover, Jack Fiedler, Wilbur Goedicke, Al Lundquist, Russell Hoberg and Ira Snyder.
Kenneth Shatto, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Shatto, was born in Clay County, March 3, 1907, and at the time of his death was 37 years and 10 months of age.
He attended Spencer high school and later worked for some time in Harmony community.
He left here in Dec. 1932, for North Sacramento, Calif., with his father and mother to care for an aged aunt, who was ill. He made his home in California since that time.
He was married in August, 1934, to Ferne Bayne, who with their small daughter, Delores June, lives in Sacramento.
He is also survived by the following brother and sisters: Mrs. G.E. Lowe, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Ruth Peterson, Waterloo; Mrs. Melburn Meyer, Rembrandt; Mrs. Joe Beving and Mrs. Will Lauck, Langdon; Mrs. John Snyder, Moneta; Will Shatto, Pipestone, Minn.; David Shatto, Stillwater, Minn.; Lester Shatto, Omaha; Raymond Shatto, Louisiana; Luther and Glenn Shatto, Spencer.
This is the first death in this family of thirteen children.
