Obituary: Katherine Virginia Caves Atwater was born in Cedar Grove on November 29, 1912, to the late Alfred and Esther Phillips Caves. She departed this life on June 5, 2013, to join her beloved husband and children.
She attended the First Baptist Church of Smithers, where she was a member for many years. During her outstanding life Katherine received numerous awards and was a generous contributor to many organizations.

Katherine was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and member of her community. A loving and caring person, she was always ready with a hug or kiss and ready to lend a hand. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; daughters, Thomasina and Gloria Jean; and sons-in-law, Bruce Redd and Jack Greene.

She leaves her devoted daughters, Marilyn Greene and Adrian Wehmeyer and her husband, Ed; devoted sons, Thomas Atwater, Delmas Atwater and his wife, Christina and Howard Atwater and his wife, Betsy; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Homegoing service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Boomer with the Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church.

O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, is in charge of arrangements.
