Benny Allen Jr., of Davidson, died on Feb 18, 2013, at his daughter’s home in Cincinnati. He was 69. The father of four children, he was a financial counselor at Davidson Housing Coalition and also worked at Lowe's Corp.

A memorial service honoring Benny’s life and spirit was held on Saturday, March 9, at 1 pm at Grace Covenant Church, 17301 Statesville Road, Cornelius.

Benny was born Oct. 1, 1943, in Piper, Ala., to the late Benny Allen and the late Mary Clark. He graduated from Taft High School in Cincinnati. He attended Miles College in Birmingham, Ala., Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio, and the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, where he received his bachelor’s degree in science.

Benny also served his country with dignity and honor as part of the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1965.

Benny dedicated his life to Christ at a young age. While living in Cincinnati, he was a member of the Bright Star Baptist Church. When he relocated to North Carolina, he was a member of Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius. He served on the usher board.

Benny leaves a sister, his children and grandchildren.
