William "Bill" Bradford Schauber, Sr. of Dover passed away with his family at his side on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 84.

Bill was born in Chestertown, Maryland to Bradford J. Schauber and Frances Myers Schauber. Raised in the family dairy business in Chestertown, Bill moved on to a sales career and established his family in Wilmington. Among his many business pursuits, Bill worked for the Reuben H. Donnelly Company for 26 years as a yellow pages sales representative. He also established his own independent yellow pages company serving the Delmarva Peninsula. Throughout this period Bill was active in real estate, obtaining his license in 1963 and working in the business for 50 years. He was a member of the Kent County Association of Realtors.

Bill was a long-time member of the Colonial Rotary Club. Other community involvements over the years included building membership with the Dover Chamber of Commerce and membership in the Lions Club of Lewes. A devoted Catholic and family man, Bill cared greatly for people in his community, extending far beyond any organizational ties.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Ann "Patsy" Cochran Schauber in 1981 and by his sister, Ann Jacquette in 2010.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Dorothy Cahall Schauber of Dover; daughter Ann C. Schauber and husband Alan Kirk of Corvallis Oregon; son, William B. Schauber, Jr. and his partner Maria L. Abadesco of Kenwood, California; daughter Mary Ellen Schauber and husband Edward J. Stegemeier of Wilmington, Delaware; sisters, Eleanor Connelly and Elizabeth Glenn, both of Chestertown, MD, and Kathryn Gannon of Churchill, MD; and grandchildren, Rebecca Ann S. Kirk of Bend Oregon and Michael S. Kirk of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

A visitation will be held at 12 noon and a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm on Tuesday, June, 11, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may visit on Monday evening, June 10, 6-8 pm at Torbert Funeral Home, 1145 East Lebanon Road (Route 10), Dover. Interment will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the St. Thomas Moore Academy, 133 Thomas Moore Dr., Magnolia, DE 19962.
