BORRE LARSEN

Drowned at Death's Door
"Captain Perry Larsen(sic), was born at Larvik, Norway in 1841. He came to
America in 1853 and became a sailor. He purchased an interest in the schooner
Transit and sailed as her master. He retired but in the fall of 1878 shipped
with his friend, Capt. August Worden, just as an accommodation. It was on the
schooner Glen Cuyler in December of that year she capsized in Death's Door,
near the tip of Door County and Captain Larsen drowned. The brave little widow,
left with four children, the youngest about one year old, took in boarders at
her home at 517 Chicago St. I remember they were a very devoted family and I
can see them yet taking Sunday afternoon walks. The eldest son, Hilbert, was
one of the first plumbers in the city ad was very active when the water works
was in charge of Colonel Graham."
