Sherwood Ellis
ARCOLA — Sherwood F. Ellis, 88, of Arcola died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday (March 26, 1994) at the Arthur Home.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Arcola cemetery with the Rev. John Robert McFarland officiating. Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Aug. 15, 1905, in Newman Township, Douglas County, the son William M. and Forest Hanley Ellis. He married Mabel Waters in 1925; she died in December 1984.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Johantgen of Neoga; one brother, Marion Ellis of Georgetown; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Mr. Ellis owned and operated an Allis Chalmers implement dealership in Tuscola for several years; and after his retirement he drove a school bus and was a custodian for the Arcola school district. He was also a member of the Arcola United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Testing Center, c/o Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center Foundaton.
