Lois Bonnie Bullard wrote these words in a praise psalm on May 2, 1988: "And when I go down to my grave I shall go in peace and no one should mourn me – rather remember me when they see pretty things that I love-". She went in peace on June 7, 2013.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 W. 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas on Monday, June 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be at Resthaven Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11. Interment will be at Floydada, Texas at 2 p.m. on June 11.
She was born in Vaughn, New Mexico on February 25, 1920. She married her husband, Gary Bullard, in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 6, 1944. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Opal Oma Poole, Ethel Mae "Johnnie" Lassiter and Lillian Berrett and one brother, Keither Davis. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Gary Bullard of Lubbock, two sons, Denny Bullard and his wife Patti of Grapevine, Texas and Randy Bullard of Lubbock. She is survived by two granddaughters, Dee Anne Muhaisen and her husband, Jamil of Austin, Texas and Laura Scott and her husband, Randy of Tulia, Texas and three grandsons, Ryan Bullard and his wife Holly, Regan Bullard and his wife Laura and Rusten Bullard and the boys' mother, Darra McWhirter, all of Lubbock. And the joys of her life, seven great grandchildren, Bradley, Jake, Trey, Mikah, Katy, Riley and Rendon.
After WWII, Gary and Lois settled in Estancia, NM where they operated a Conoco bulk plant and owned an insurance agency. While in Estancia, she served on the Board of Directors of Hope Medical Center and taught ladies and children's Bible classes. She also was a teacher at Sandia Summer Camp. In 1981, she moved to Abilene where she worked with Bible Call Ministries for five years. Grandma loved to write. She wrote poems and verses and notes of encouragement and letters to friends and relatives. Because of her writings, she left her family two special treasures, the story of her life and of the life of her husband, Gary. Moving to Lubbock in 2006, she quickly made new friends and found a new church home. And even though weakened by the years, she never lost her ability to be the organizer and family bookkeeper. But most of all, she never lost her love of new friends and fun with the kids.
"……pretty things that I love like sunshine and rainbows, tall grass in the breeze, wild flowers 'neath the trees, and roses and seashells and ribbon and velvet and lace ----."
