Louisa Creery Furley was born on 31.1.1835 in Ashford, Kent, England. Her father was Robert Furley, JP and solicitor of Ashford, Kent, England, who was born on 2.1.1809 and died at Ashford on 9.9.1887. Her mother was Margaret Rutton Creery born 22.4.1816 at Tandragee, Armagh, Northern Ireland. She died on 3.9.1888 at Ashford, Kent, England. Both parents are buried in the Furley Family Grave in the Ashford Cemetery.

Louisa had a brother, Sir John Furley born on 19.3.1836 and as he didn't have any children, Louisa gave the Furley and Creery names to several of her own children. She also had two sisters, Eliza Furley born on 3.2.1839 and Margaret Hester Furley born about 1840, who married J.D.McKenzie Von Dadelszen.

On 1.12.1859 Louisa married John Alexander Drake who was a Cornet of the 7th Dragoon Guards. He later went into the church and in 1865 became the rector of St.Andrew Church at Brockley, Bury St.Edmunds, Suffolk, England where he practised for many years.

Louisa and the Rev. John Alexander Drake had a total of 13 children with their first daughter Margaret Lizzie Furley Drake, born in 1862, dying at the age of 1 month old. Their eldest son, Robert John Drake b 1863, migrated to Canada. Louisa Struddy Drake, b 1865 died aged 26 from Asthma. Margaret Creery Drake, b 1866. Helen Maud Drake, b 1867. Hettie Rutton Drake, b 1868. Dr. Leslie Alexander Drake, b 1868. Bernard Charles Drake, b 1871 was Mayor of Hythe, coroner and King's Councillor. Armyn George Drake, b 1872 migrated to New Zealand and taught at a Native School. William Henry Drake, b 1873. Marion Drake, b 1875. Emily Drake ,b 1877 married Rev. C.Mackonochie. John Furley Drake, b 1879, chemist migrated to New Zealand.

Louisa died on 5.7.1890 and is buried at Brockley, Suffolk. The inscription on her headstone reads:

In Loving Memory of Louisa Creery wife of Rev. J.A. Drake born January 31st, 1835 died July 5th, 1890.

The sun has set to us, but shines elsewhere in heavenly light.
The increasing gloom is gone and all is fair in heavenly light.
The home is reached thou dost not asked to see
The distant scene for it is near to thee.
