The Pantagraph (Bloomington,IL) Nov 25,1940----Daniel Holzhauer Sr, 75, a farmer living three and one half miles northwest of Pontiac, died at 6pm Sunday at St James Hospital. Death was caused by complications following an injury sustained several weeks ago when he was caught in the tumbling rod of a grain dump. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday at the Lutheran church in Rowe. The Rev H.J. Hjelmervik will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Rowe cemetery. He was born June 5,1865 in Germany, the son of Adam and Anna Holzhauer. He came to the United States when he was 6 years old and has lived in the vicinity of Pontiac since that time. In 1890 he married Caroline Vahl at Leonore. She died October 4,1938. He is survived by 6 sons; Daniel Jr, Fred, Ernest, John, Carl and Ross, all of Pontiac; 3 daughters, Mrs Lizzie Abraham, of Pontiac; Mrs August Cummings of Pekin; and Mrs Bertha McNeil of Champaign; 3 brothers, John, William, and Henry of Pontiac and two sisters. Mrs Dora Eisfield in Minnesota and Mrs Kate Peters in Louisiana. 34 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren survive. He was a member of the Rowe Lutheran church.
