Born July 30, 1919, he was a son of the late Patrick and Caroline (Walter) Nolan Muldowney .

Jim was a loving husband and devoted father. He was also a son, a brother, a cousin, an uncle and a friend to many people. It was always in his heart to help others, and anyone who had the pleasure of making his acquaintance will attest to this. He will be forever missed, but never forgotten. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.

Jim had a deep love for God, Country and Family and instilled his beliefs in his children.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Mount Carmel Knights of Columbus Council 628, American Legion, Disabled Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Hose Fire Company.

He attended Mount Carmel schools, and after attending night school, he graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School in 1969.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and gave many years to the Mount Carmel community as a council member and a member of the sewer authority.

Jim was a coal miner, milkman, carpenter, maintenance man at Holy Spirit School, the founder of Nolan's Lumber Company in Kulpmont and a politician. He was a lifelong Democrat and served in several positions within the party.

Other than helping people, he had no hobbies, except for stopping in the church daily. He once said, "My family is my hobby." He enjoyed spending time with his family whether it was watching his Phillies, spending time at "The Cabin," going to "The Shore," running errands "for the boys," or taking the dogs for a walk.

Jim/Pop/Pap was a gentle man and a caring man of faith who had the love and respect of all who knew him. He always found the best in others and gave of himself without expecting anything in return. He will live forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
