Obituary: Dolores Gaye Rhodes Boylen, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Charleston General Hospital.
She was the daughter of Raymond H. and Lessie Parsons Rhodes, who preceded her in death.

"Doe" as she was known to her friends, was seventy-seven years old. Fifty-seven of those years were spent as the loving wife of Arnold Theodore "Ted" Boylen.

Doe was the mother of twins. Her son, Gary Theodore Boylen and wife, Connie Marie Layne Boylen of Charleston and her daughter, Terry Gay Boylen Copenhaver and husband, Paul Richard Copenhaver of Martinsburg, W.Va.

Together they gave Doe five grandchildren, Gary T. Boylen, Jr. and wife, Amanda Trimmer Boylen of Akron, Ohio, Christopher Michael Boylen and wife, Debra Mathias Boylen of Stow, Ohio, Elizabeth Monet Copenhaver Widmeyer and husband, Jamie of Bedford, Pa., Paul Richard Theodore Copenhaver and wife, Laura Smoot Copenhaver of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Alexis Marie Boylen of Charleston.

They gave Doe and Ted nine great-grandchildren, Paren Boylen, Carter Boylen, Nicholas Boylen, Leah Boylen, Cadence Widmeyer, Annabelle Boylen, Skylar Copenhaver, Aiden Boylen and Gabrielle Boylen. All love their Grandmother very much, and will miss her.

Doe graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, Class of 1953, where she was a member of The National Honor Society.

She worked outside the home for many years. She was first employed as a secretary by Fred Kilmeyer. After which she was a secretary at Chandler Elementary School and ended her working career spending over 30 years as the receptionist at Jackson, Kelley, Holt and O'Farrel Attorneys at Law, now Jackson-Kelley in Charleston.

Doe was proud to state that she was a long time member of Davis Memorial Baptist Church, where she had spent many years serving as Secretary/Treasurer.

The Pastor Roger Vannoy will be conducting the service at the Church on Davis Circle in Charleston at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 11. For directions to the church please call the funeral home at 304-342-4118. Burial will follow in Jarrett Cemetery, Elkview.

The family will receive visitors at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 10 and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

There will be a reception at the Church Activities Building provided by the Ladies Aid following the graveside service. All are welcome.
