Mary L. Mallonee Simmons, 80, KCK, passed away at her home on June 7, 2013.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 10th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill-Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 11th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mary was born on June 18, 1932 in Leavenworth, KS to Thomas and Gertrude Wallace.
She grew up in Bonner Springs, KS, graduated from Bonner Springs High School, and attended KCKCC.
She married Ben G. Mallonee in 1954 and they had four children prior to his death in 1968. Mary was an exceptional mother and father to her children as a young widow.
She married William P. Simmons in 1979 and they were happily married until his passing in 1993.
Mary was employed in the Admissions Office at KCKCC for 20 years until her retirement in 1996 and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers, Thomas Wallace, Richard Wallace, and Robert Wallace; her sister, Margaret Gier, and her son-in-law, Douglas Colson.
Survivors include her children, Ben G. Mallonee, Jr., Janet L. Shriver, Deanne M. (Jim) Smith, Nancy K (Gary) Hobelmann, Bill's children, Terry (Jim) Thoelke and Russell (Tiffany) Simmons, her 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Georgia Wallace and many nieces and nephews.
