Romona Marie Graggs, 68, of Greensburg, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013, at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
She was born March 29, 1945 in Shelbville, the daughter of Nelson "Doc" and Geneva (Noyes) Shanks.
She married James Graggs June 19, 2008, and he survives.
Romona is also survived by seven children: Anna (Billy) Gearhart of Milford, Valarie Horan of Texas, Betty (Jeff) Sturgill of Tennessee, Johnny Smith of Tennessee, Katherine Smith of Brownstown, Troy Kennedy of Florida and Brenda Kennedy of Florida; five siblings: Cathy Morrow of North Vernon, Rose Shanks of Florida, and Robert Shanks, Earl Shanks and Ruby (Robert) Baker, all of Alabama, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands John Robert Smith who passed in 1990, and James William Kennedy who passed in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter Rhonda Smith, and four siblings: Jim Shanks, Carolyn Oliphant, Sonny Shanks and Roberta Powers.
A previous resident of Florida, Romona had lived in the Greensburg area since 1996. She had worked as a cashier at Walmart for 10 years before retiring in 2008. She had also worked as a cook at McDonalds in Greensburg for 10 years before retiring from that position in 2007.
Romona enjoyed fishing, being involved in church and church activities, witnessing to others and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She was a member of Greensburg's Apostolic Truth Tabernacle.
Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Greensburg's Apostolic Truth Tabernacle, Rev. Jeff Sangl presiding.
A time of visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Burial follows in Milford Cemetery.
