Colonel, Confederate Army. Started as an Adjutant of the 46th Tennessee Infantry. He was captured at Island No. 10 along the Mississippi River, and spent time at Camp Chase and Johnson's Island in Ohio. Exchanged in Vicksburg, Mississippi in September of 1862. He was then sent back to Henry County in Tennessee to reorganize the men who had escaped the Battle at Island No. 10. After this, he was elected colonel. Resigned the position in December of 1864.

Born March 31, 1824 in Carroll County Tennessee. He was a trader in Henry County in 1860. He was a lawyer and Railroad Director in Henry County after the war.

He was the First Commander of Paris Commandery Knights Templar.

Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons.
Past President of the Order of High Preisthood.
And the 30th Grandmaster of Tennessee Free and Accepted Masons.
