Karoline Sagel:
Born Henriette Condradine Wilhelmine Sagel on Sept. 30, 1822 in Hiddensen No. 23 Germany, daughter of Jihann German Heinrich Christoph Sagel - Sprenger and his wife Anna Marie Katharine Ilsabein Vollmer, m. Jan. 4, 1846 in Detmold, d. Sept. 28, 1877 in Ellinwood, Kansas.

Heinrich Christoph Wilms:
Born: November 25th, 1816, Brake/Lemgo, Lippe Detmold, Germany
Died: March 23rd, 1906, Hutchinson Kansas

His father died leaving his mother with 8 children in needy conditions. His mother died and he married January 4th, 1846 in Detmold to Henrietta Conradine Wilhelmine Sagel from Hiddensen, sister of Charlotte Catherine Sagel.

Heinrich and Condradine Wilms departed Bremen, Germany February 1847 with Heinrich brothers’ Friedrich and Anton and their wives and families on ship Hardee and arrived at New Orleans Louisiana May 15th, 1847. They traveled up the Mississippi to St. Louis and settled near Second Creek and Hermann, Missouri in Gasconade County. Brother August, wife Charlotte (Catherine Sagel) and children arrived in 1848 and lived nearby in Gasconade County.

Eight children were born to Heinrich and Conradine Willms: Henry Simon Willms b. 1847, Charles Augustus Willms b. 1849, Emily (Amelia) Caroline Willms b. 1850, Melinda (Magdalene) Willms b 1854, Louis Henry Willms b. 1856, Hannah Willms b. 1859, Caroline C. Willms b. 1862, Martha “Mattie” Willms b 1863. Three children died in infancy: Samuel b. 1851, Tomas b. 1852, and Maria b. 1853.

In 1861 Heinrich and Conradine moved to Fosterburg Illinois where a church was built under his leadership. In 1876 they moved to Ellinwood Kansas where he started missionary work south of Ellinwood near Stafford. His wife died September 28th, 1877 and on January 1st, 1878 he married Caroline Rohrmann (b. June 1st, 1814 Lippe Detmold, m. Rohrmann with whom she came to America, and on Rohrmann’s death, married Heinrich Willms). Caroline died October 17th, 1898 at her son’s home south of the river in Barton County, Kansas.

Heinrich Willms moved to Hutchinson Kansas in 1904 where he died March 23rd, 1906 at the home of his son Charles, 104 Tenth Avenue East in Hutchinson. Interment in Ellinwood Cemetery in Barton County Kansas.

Heinrich Willms was a Baptist minister for 56 years.
