WATTS, JR., EDGAR (ED) REID, of Birmingham died peacefully June 10, 2013 at the age of 83 surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his wife Betty Jane ( BJ ) Rush Watts and his son Alan Shelby Watts ( Beth ) and three daughters, Sharon Watts Adams ( Jerry ) Laura Watts Fernambucq ( Rick ) Allison Watts Romano ( Sam ) and their grandchildren, Clay Adams ( Amy ), J.R. Adams ( April ), Richie Fernambucq ( Jennifer ), Reid Fernambucq ( Caitlin ), Liz Callen ( Alex ), Alan Watts, Grace Watts, Lauren Romano, Kristen Romano and seven great grandchildren. His brothers, Philip Appling Watts ( Carol ) and William David Watts ( Lynn )

He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar Reid Watts , Sr, Ruth Appling Watts and his son, Edgar Reid Watts, III.

Ed graduated from Phillips High School in 1948 and Auburn University 1952 with a BS Electrical Engineering degree where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

After graduating he was commissioned in the US Navy serving, with distinction, on the USS New Jersey BB 62 as Plotting Room Officer for two years during the Korean War.

He began his career with Westinghouse Electric in sales. After five years, he and his brother Phil, founded Watts Engineering Sales in Birmingham, Alabama. He retired as President in 1988.

During his life he and his wife enjoyed many hobbies, including skiing, scuba diving, tennis, sailing, golf and their many travels.

He served on the governing boards at Vestavia Country Club, was a member of the Rotary Club as well as other church, civic and school organizations. He served on Vestries at St. Luke's and St. Stephen's until he and his wife became members of the Cathedral Church of the Advent.

Visitation will be at Cathedral Church of the Advent ,Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 1pm with a service following at 2pm.

Private graveside service for family will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
