McALESTER — Donald S. Jameson, 75, of McAlester, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at a local nursing center.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Randy Matthews.

Services are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home.

Born on Jan. 5, 1938, in Bakersfield, Calif., he was the son of Chester Lee and Lottie Lorene (Henson) Jameson.

His family moved to Oklahoma when he was young and he grew up in the Massey area.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and, when he received his honorable discharge in 1961, he settled in Mangum where his family had moved.

He met Jolene Baker, whom he married on April 10, 1964, in Mangum.

He worked in law enforcement most of his life in western Oklahoma including Mangum, Cordell, Sayre, and Butler and also in eastern Oklahoma he worked in Roland.

He served as chief of police of Sayre and as undersheriff of Beckham County.

He and his wife moved to the McAlester area in 1987 where they bred and raised registered dogs of different breeds.

He enjoyed going to flea markets and auctions and trading cars and going fishing and camping and listening to bluegrass music.

He also enjoyed playing cards at the fire department. He had attended the North Mt. Homa Church.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Deborah and Randy Mathews, of Grove; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald L. and Karole Jameson, of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, Aaron Mathews and his wife Melissa, of Tahlequah, Hayden Mathews of Grove, Austin B. Jameson, Sydney A. Jameson, Mathew Wingfield, Austin R. Wingfield, all of Oklahoma City and Jessica Bush and husband Tom, of New Jersey; two sisters and one brother-in-law, LaHoma Shannon, of McAlester, Ann and Jim Bender, of McAlester; a sister-in-law, Heidi Jameson, of Duke; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jolene, April 18, 2013; grandson, Jason Mathews, and three brothers, Leon, Jerry and Thomas Jameson.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Mathews, Melissa Mathews, Hayden Mathews, Austin B. Jameson, Sydney Jameson, Mathew Wingfield and Austin R. Wingfield. - McAlester News-Capital (mcalesternews.com)
