Calumet Homestead
Age 92, formerly of Hilbert, died Thursday, September 19, 2002 at the nursing home in New Holstein.
She was born July 29, 1910 in Mineral Point, Wisconsin; daughter of the late Carl and Anna (Brown) Brandel. She worked at Calumet Cheese, which was later turned into the Nestle Cheese Plant, until her retirement 30 years ago.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert, the Christian Mothers, Hilbert Senior Citizens, she loved crafts, especially crocheting, and she also loved her family, kids, grandkids, great-grand-kids, and great-great-grandkids, she also loved cooking, baking and taking care of her large garden. She is survived by eight children:

Barbara (Richard) Bruce, Neenah;
Kathryne (Lonnie) Wagner, Hilbert;
Margaret (Lloyd) Thiel, Menasha;
Kurtis (Dianna) Koehler, Little Chute;
Mary Jo Dietzen, Sherwood;
Candice (Lonnie) Wolf, Appleton;
William (Lorelei) Koehler, Hilbert;
23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, six step grandchildren, three step greatgrandchildren; three sisters: Lois Brandel, June Mortimer, Jane (Howard "Red") Gruett; a brother-in-law, Joseph Anheier; and a sister-in-law, Thersilla Brandel.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Koehler; a great-granddaughter, Nicole Bruce; and a brother, Donald Brandel.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2002 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert with the Rev. Rallen Stencil officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at Wieting Funeral Home of Chilton, 411 W. Main St., from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and again on Monday at the church from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. A Rosary will be said by the Christian Mothers Sunday evening at the funeral home.
