Grace was born about 1735 and was married to Cornelius Malaby, born about 1730. They were both probably born in New Jersey. Her maiden name is unknown, but there is a possibility it was Jewell. Cornelius was captured at The Battle Of Brooklyn (Battle Of Long Island) while serving in the New Jersey Militia, and died as a prisoner of war somewhere around New York City, December 28, 1776. According to information written in the family bible, stored in The National Archives under the name of one of their sons, Thomas (also a Revolutionary War veteran), Cornelius and Grace had the following children:

Thomas born 6 March 1761 (died 30 March 1840)
James born 17 August 1762
Margaret born 25 April 1764
Elizabeth born 12 June 1766
John born 20 April 1768
Sarah born 18 July 1770
