Marilyn V. Aanderud
Caring, loving and sincere Marilyn Vernice Aanderud, 83, of Longview died Oct. 5, 2012, at the Hospice Care Center.

She was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Minnewaukan, N.D., to Clarence and Gustina Helgeson and graduated from high school in 1947.

Marilyn was a customer service writer for Longview Fibre for 28 years. She retired in 1992. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Trinity Quilters, and a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening and canning. Marilyn was exceptionally selfless and self-sacrificing. She was filled with charm and patience and never complained.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.O. "Andy" Aanderud; and two sisters, Hazel Helgeson and Geneva Olson.

Marilyn is survived by a sister, Evelyn Chapman of Everett; a brother, Harlan Helgeson in North Dakota; a brother-in-law, Don (Bette) Aanderud of Kelso; a sister-in-law, Berlayne Olson of Anaheim, Calif.; three sons, Craig and Ron, both in Longview, and John (Kris) in Silver Lake; a daughter, Debbie (Hal) in Kelso; and six grandchildren, Amanda, Haley, Robert, Brian, Alton and Anna.

A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory. Chaplain Linda Beattie will officiate. A viewing is planned from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Care Center and the Alzheimer's Association.
