Paul was one of nine children born to the late John Wesley and Laura Belle (Morgan) Hickman.
He was the loving and dedicated husband of Iva Alice (Carter) Hickman, whom he married on September 30, 1930. She proceeded him in death on April 30, 1980.
Mr. Hickman was the beloved father of Rosealeah Dunn, Ruth W. Wicks, and Jerry E. Hickman; grandfather of nine, and great-grandfather of several.
He was the brother of Elsie Ross, Nina Kiefer, Bertha Jones, Anna Vise, Cora Salbeck, Harry and Charles Hickman, who have preceded him in death. One sister, Goldie McCalip-Martin, survives.
Paul worked many years for the Wright Coal Company, Spicklemier Sand and Gravel, and was a security guard for Hubler Chevrolet, from which he retired.
He attended the Shelby Street Wesleyan Church in Indianapolis.
He was an avid fan of the western TV shows, enjoying most the 20 year run of "Gunsmoke".
Paul never met a stranger, he was a "friend" to all.
He touched so many people's lives in so many different ways, and he will never be forgotten.
Services were Monday, March 8th at Little & Sons Funeral Home in Beech Grove, with Rev. Ray Hotle.
Burial: Sutherland Park Cemetery in Indianapolis
