A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Lexington City Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter Tammy James, 561 Arnold Rd.
Shirley was born in Davidson County on March 8, 1936, to Neumie & Rilla Mae Parrish. She was a nurse and caregiver to others, working in multiple areas of healthcare including the hospital setting, industrial, private duty, and long term care. She was preceded in death her husband Bobby Reid Hinkle on January 9, 1986, and brothers, Oscar Parrish and Terry Parrish.
She is survived by her five children, Tammy James and husband Larry of Lexington, Tony Hinkle of Kentucky, Traci Kerley and husband Denny of Lexington, Melissa Praytor of Thomasville and Robin Davis and husband Howard (Kim) of Winston Salem. Shirley has four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 for their care and compassion give over the last several days.
