Mr. Adams was born in Tallulah to the late Adrian Edward Adams and Caroline Montgomery Adams. He received a bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University and attended LSU's School of Law. He practiced law in Tallulah with the firm of Spencer, Sevier and Adams and was an assistant district attorney with Thompson L. Clarke before becoming judge of the sixth judicial district.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the army in New Orleans, South Hampton and Callais.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Holt Adams; one son, William R. Adams; two brothers, William Ziegler Adams and Adrian Edward Adams Jr.; and three sisters, Myra B. Willett, Addison Brooks and Retta B. Sevier.
Survivors include a son, C. Calvin Adams Jr. of Tallulah; four grandsons, Dr. Cliff Adams III of Jackson, Miss., Dr. Edwin H. Adams of Monroe and Robert H. Adams and William M. Adams, both of Tallulah; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Tallulah with the Rev. Ramon Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Cross Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Cliff Adams III, Edwin H. Adams, Robert H. Adams, William M. Adams, Walter Scott III, Carneal Woodyear and Edward M. Adams.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 300 Cedar St., Tallulah, LA 71282 or to a favorite charity.
